I caught up with Frank Turner to find out what he’s been listening to following the release of his first Number 1 album: FTHC

Frank Turner is a staple name in the music scene at this point, now on his ninth studio album, he’s been doing this a while. His last album FTHC breaks some new ground however, this is Turner’s first number 1 album. The release is a return to his more hardcore roots with his previous band Million Dead and discusses with great transparency themes of addiction, forgiveness, loss, and love. I was eager to find out what Frank had been listening to following this release, here’s what he told me.

The Oozes – Bitchboy

What Frank Said: The Oozes are awesome. I’ve recently been working with them in the studio, but they have material out there already. Punk as fuck, very in your face, and a lot of fun too.

Screaming Trees – Dust

What Frank Said: I was gutted to hear of Mark Lanegan’s passing recently. His work, especially this album, was quite a big deal for me when I was younger, working out what songs could sound like. I’ve been revisiting.

Pedro The Lion – Havasu

What Frank Said: I am a terminally obsessed PTL fan. Like it’s not even funny. His most recent record is an absolute tour de force, it made me laugh and sob during my first listen through. One of the greatest songwriters I know, at his peak.

Guise – Don’t Come Back

What Frank Said: OK OK, I’m biased, this is my wife, and I produced this as well, but… it’s great. The album is incoming. I’m in awe.

Armoured Man – Natives

What Frank Said: An incredible folk duo from my newly-adopted hometown. Beautiful songs, well worth checking out.
